2. Appointment Time

Once you’ve selected a company, you’ll make an appointment. You’ll either choose to bring your vehicle into a shop or hire a mobile auto glass technician. There are benefits to both services, and you have to decide what’s best for your circumstances. But we would like to point out that if you can’t drive your vehicle to the shop, mobile services could be easier so you don’t have to tow your vehicle.

3. Getting Ready

When the technician begins working on your vehicle, they’ll first remove some trim pieces, like the rearview mirror. Then, they’ll get the glass ready to be removed.

4. Remove the Old Windshield

Next, the technicians will use specialized tools, like suction cups, to remove the old windshield. Depending on the damage, they may have to remove it in parts, but they’ll make sure every single piece of glass is completely removed from the frame.

5. Clean It

The next step in the process is cleaning the frame. If there’s any debris or rust, the technician will take care of it right then and there. Debris and rust can interfere with a solid bond.

6. Apply the Adhesive

Now that the frame is clean and free of debris, the technician will apply an adhesive that should be approved by the AGSC (Auto Glass Safety Council). Be sure the auto glass company you hire uses a good adhesive; otherwise, you can get leaks, and the structural integrity of your vehicle will be in jeopardy.

7. Install the New Windshield

Next, the technician will use specialty tools to install your new windshield. They will fit it so it lays well in the adhesive, then use pressure to ensure the bond between the frame and glass is rock solid. They’ll also remove any excess adhesive and reinstall all the trim pieces they removed.

8. ADAS Calibration
